"Home" for the Holidays

The second weekend of November is always BYU's DanceSport event that Tara works, which is a perfect time for me to make a trip "home" to visit family and support Tara too. Gloria and I have decided to also make it our annual holiday visit to all of our family in Utah Valley.

Tara and I met at DFW, then took a flight together to Salt Lake City. We took a brisk walk the next morning before Tara headed to the DanceSport event on campus. While Tara worked I did a little shopping, read, watched videos -- in other words, just kicked back and relaxed! During Tara's break in the middle of the day we rode over to Santaquin to visit Dad. He was surprised to see us, and thrilled to go for a ride down through Mona with us. We stopped and visited Mom, and Lee's parents too, before getting Tara back to campus. Jennifer & Zoey were able to join me at DanceSport that evening to watch the fun competition, and see Tara award her scholarship.

We picked Gloria up at the Provo airport on Saturday, and while Tara worked Gloria and I had fun shopping together. Mandy joined us for the evening at DanceSport, and we had a great time trying to see how close we could come to the real judging. (Our success was probably hampered by the fact that most of our criteria was based on the beautiful ball gowns the dancers were wearing!)

We took Tara to the airport Sunday morning to head back to Miami, then picked up Dad for Sunday dinner at Charles & Audra's. They had planned their annual holiday Bingo game (with Dad as the "caller") and it was such fun to be able to join their family for a fun holiday tradtion. Gloria and I spent the next couple of days visiting with Dad, taking him out for rides, decorating a little Christmas tree for his room, and even joined him one evening for the entertainment at Seasons of Santaquin. He was so proud when the trio of singers asked us to be part of the program -- they sang "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" and we barked on cue!

Gloria and I loved being able to visit Uncle Dan & Aunt Viv, Aunt Pearl, our dad, and our brothers and their families, as well as decorating a little Christmas tree for Mom's grave. Plus, being part of Tara's fun dance life, and just sharing quality sister time together. Definitely a great holiday tradition!
