Sigh-Bar in November

Lee has been so anxious to make another trip back to Sigh-Bar to work on his barn building project, plus we needed to get everything "winterized" for the cold and snowy months ahead. I wanted to be home for the Halloween fun with the grandkids, but November 1st we were on our way. Snow was falling when we stepped off the train in Whitefish, so winter had already arrived!
It is like heaven to Lee to spend the entire day outside - no matter the weather - building, fixing, inventing, and enjoying the fabulous mountain wilderness. He admits that the best investment so far has been the ATV, which he has named Artie, and uses in a wide variety of tasks.

He had a load of lumber delivered for the barn, and spent the next few days finishing putting up the sides on the second half, and trimming in a watering trough. Next up is the rafters, but that will have to be the next trip. He kept a fire burning nearby to warm himself up occasionally.

A big surprise for me when we arrived was the addition of beautiful split rail fencing around the front of the property. Lee used some fallen pine trees to fashion an arch over the gate leading to the barn. It is amazing to me that he was able to put these huge, heavy poles together by himself! He used some interesting engineering tactics of his own, but what an accomplishment!
We found an excuse just about every day to go into town, either Whitefish or Kalispell, to visit some of our favorite spots, and treated ourselves to pumpkin pie blizzards at the DQ. We cuddled up and watched adventures on Netflix every night, and slept until we woke up (with no alarm) every morning. We hiked the Whitefish Trail to the overlook at Skyles Lake, and soaked up the crisp mountain air. The snow is beautiful, the air is cold, and Sigh-Bar in November is awesome!!
