A Miami Weekend

Tara's work schedule keeps her traveling most weekends of the year, so the best chance to spend a weekend with her at her home in Coral Gables seems to be in January or February. Plus...it's a great time of the year to visit southern Florida, and an especially temperate season for running -- when Tara enjoys running some of the 5K races in the Miami Beach area. So, with an invitation to join her for a race along Ocean Drive, Amy and I made plans for a weekend in Miami!
We arrived Friday in time for lunch, and Tara took us to the airport on her way to work the next Monday morning, so it was just a weekend visit but we made the most of every minute. We tried Tara's latest favorite restaurant, LIME Fresh Mexican Grill (in fact, we loved it so much we went twice during the weekend, and even ordered the exact same thing both times!), helped Tara shop for something special to wear to a big gala event she will be attending next month in NYC (which with our intuitive help and encouragement Tara found two dresses that were such amazing deals she had to buy both!), had popcorn at the latest chick flick, The Vow, and took a stroll down Coral Gables' Miracle Mile.
We justified all of this fun by running the Live Ultimate Ocean Drive 5K on Saturday morning! We joined over 2000 runners to run along Ocean Drive and party at the beach afterwards. One of the advantages of running at my age is that there isn't much competition so I actually placed 3rd in my age group and received a medal! Whole Foods catered the party so we had a yummy breakfast while we waited for Mrs. U.S.A. to present the medals.
It was so much fun for me to spend a few days with two of our daughters -- laughing, crying, running, shopping, eating, talking, playing -- and best of all, loving every minute!!
