Last Days of Summer Fun

Our friends, Kay & Carole Denning, have been looking for a day to take us boating all summer, and we finally got it on the schedule. They wanted to take us to one of their favorite places, Hungry Horse Reservoir. It was a beautiful Montana summer day, and we had the huge gorgeous lake almost to ourselves. Carole had packed a luscious dinner, and we stopped in a perfect little cove to enjoy dinner on the boat. When the sun started to go down and the air was getting chilly, we pulled the boat out of the water and headed home. But not without a stop in Hungry Horse for some super yummy homemade huckleberry ice cream!

Alex & Nick moved into their new house in Billings the week of June's 4th birthday, so perfect timing for us to celebrate with Junie and see their new home. They have a beautiful new home in a new neighborhood on the very northwest edge of town, right up next to the rim. We helped move some furniture around a bit, but the real fun was celebrating with June. She was so thrilled to finally have her birthday and be 4 years old. For her birthday date she wanted to go to Target. Right next door was the Dollar Tree store, so she decided to go in there first! She picked out some "nail paint" and loved picking out balloons for her and Leo and Ruby. I had to talk her out of buying balloons for her parents and me and grandpa too! She is always so anxious to share. She had a great time shopping around in Target, but finally decided on a watercolor book with paints. Her birthday dinner choice was IHOP, and she was thrilled when they sang to her and brought her a birthday sundae. June is such a delightful little girl. She is absolutely bursting with personality, and very friendly and outgoing. She is constantly moving -- skipping, dancing, jumping, and is almost always smiling. She loves to sing, and always sings her own version of "so-long, farewell..." whenever she says good-bye to anyone! Junie definitely brings much love and joy to our family.

August means time for one of Lee's regular days of tests/procedures at the Houston Medical Center, so we took a quick trip back to Texas. Lee wasted no time getting back to the horses and his projects at Sigh-Bar, but I detoured to California for a few days with Tara while she worked at the Embassy Ball in Irvine. Tara and I had such a great time together doing girl things: we ran each morning on the trail along the San Diego canal, went shopping at Fashion Island, sat outside to enjoy In-n-Out burgers and Rubio's tacos, got a pedicure, went to a movie, and enjoyed "down time." I loved watching some of the dancing, but also enjoyed taking my time getting ready every day, reading, crocheting, or whatever, while Tara worked. I love going with Tara to one of her dance events. She is so generous and thoughtful, and always takes such great care of me. Thanks, Tara!!
