Lee and I hit a homerun last weekend when we made a trip to Ohio to visit with Chris, Colleen, and Max, and got to see Max play two of his coach pitch baseball games, helped Chris check off some items on his "to-do" list, shot baskets for several rounds of "horse," enjoyed a Memorial Day barbecue, had donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast on the last day of first grade, and even got to catch up with some old friends.Chris is one of the coaches of Max's baseball team, the "Cubs," and pitched to the team. One game was on an unseasonably hot Saturday afternoon, and the other on a beautiful Tuesday evening. Max got a hit every at bat, and took a turn at catching, first base, and outfield. Great to be at the ballfield again -- this time as grandparents!
Lee helped Chris do some landscaping tasks, and I helped him re-stain their front door and replace the net around the trampoline. We had a great time playing games with Max, watching him dive and swim at the pool, trying to hit him with water balloons while he jumped on the trampoline, and treated him to ice cream at the "K" and UDF. But - best of all - we loved sharing a few laughs & tears, work & play, and hugs & kisses, with some of our family that we just don't get to see often enough!
