A New Year

We spent the first ten days of the new year at Sigh-Bar, snuggling in front of the fireplace and enjoying the grandeur of our winter wonderland surroundings. It snowed almost every day, and there is such a serene beauty in the pristine landscape, the snow-laden branches of the giant pine trees, and the stillness of the crisp air in the winter woods. It was a lovely start to the new year before we headed back to Houston for the rest of the winter.
Once back to our Braided Branch house, we renewed our efforts to unpacking the rest of the moving boxes and finishing some home decorating. We are so happy to now live close enough to often participate in Isabelle's and Olivia's school events. Isabelle made the 7th grade basketball team, and we had a great time cheering for her and her teammates at the Creekside Park Jr. High basketball games. We loved being in the audience for Olivia's third grade program, especially since Olivia had a solo performance on the metallophone.

January is the birthday month of our cute Leo, and he was super excited to celebrate turning 8 this year. He and I had taken the opportunity for a "birthday date" while we were together for the holidays since we wouldn't be able to celebrate with him in person this year. Leo is such a fun and interesting boy. He is super smart, reads constantly, and is always full of new information and ideas. He is learning to ski, playing community soccer and basketball, and loves participating in his school's GT program. We miss him terribly, but are very grateful he has such an optimistic attitude about moving to Billings. And, although we missed being able to share his birthday cake, we are looking forward to sharing his special baptism day with him soon.
