Lazy Summer Days

We loved having our kids and grandkids sharing in the fun at Sigh-Bar throughout the summer, but August signals "back to school" so time for them to get back home. That left Lee and I here to enjoy the last, lazy days of summer. The long days of August are sunny and warm, with cool nights. We enjoyed sleeping in, then being outside until late in the evening when the sun finally went down. We finally took the drive up to check out Tally Lake, and discovered another beautiful spot to share with the kids next summer. We also made a day trip up to Cardston to attend the Alberta Temple. It was a beautiful ride, and we saw a huge herd of bison on the way.

On August 11th we joined family across the country in our traditional balloon launch to celebrate Mom's birthday. Then we made a quick trip back to Houston for Lee's day of tests, procedures, etc. at the liver clinic, so were also able to celebrate June's 2nd birthday with her. Little Junie is so sweet and such a joy to everyone!

The electric company had come along the highway and cut down any of the big pine trees that were close to the power lines, and Lee spent several days cleaning up the downed trees along our property. He put his Father's Day chainsaw to good use cutting 10'+ pole lengths and dragging them into a pile. The rest he cut into lots and lots of firewood that he stacked around the firepit.

The temperatures have already started to drop down into the 30's some nights, and fall is in the air. A local journalist wrote that it is "time to get out the fleece that everyone put away in June!" It is true that summer here is literally June, July, and August. We are not in a hurry to get back to the summer heat and humidity that continues in Houston! Instead, we're going to sit by the fire and enjoy this beautiful and brisk mountain air a little longer....
