Tara took advantage of the long President's Day weekend to come over and celebrate Valentine's Day with the gang. She had an early flight Tuesday morning to head back to work, so once we dropped her at the airport we pointed the car northeast and hit the road. Texarkana, then east across Arkansas through Little Rock to Memphis and Nashville, where we stopped for the night. We actually stayed in the same area in Nashville where we had spent many baseball weekends over the four years Chris played for Vanderbilt. The next morning we had fun driving through Vanderbilt's campus, revisiting familiar spots and seeing all of the updates/changes.
Then it was north through Louisville and Cincinnati, eventually arriving in Springboro just in time to climb into Chris' car to go to swim practice with Chris, Colleen, and Max. We spent most of the next four days at the 2016 Ohio Rays SC Regional Championships in Mason, Ohio, cheering for our champion swimmer! One of the most exciting events of the weekend was when Max took first place in the "Boys 11-12 400 Yard Individual Medley" with a time of 5:16.14, which was 9 seconds better than the Jr. Olympic qualifying time!

Max has been working on an ancestry unit in school so we read some family history together, played ping pong, and got caught up on some of his fifth grade experiences.

We left Monday morning, continuing our road trip west to Indianapolis, then to St. Louis, and finally to Branson for the night. It was the wrong time of year for all of the Branson entertainment, so we just continued southwest through Little Rock, arriving home at about 9:00 p.m. Road Trip #1 is now just a memory, so planning begins for Road Trip #2!
February is the birthday month of our second granddaughter, Olivia, who just turned 6. Olivia is enduring kindergarten, loves ballet and gymnastics, and is always bubbling over with energy and enthusiasm! She definitely lights a spark everywhere she goes!!
