Celebrating 7

Our oldest grandchild, Maxwell Alden Christensen, turned 7 on November 30th. Lee & I have loved every minute of grandparenthood, and even though he couldn't make the trip, G'pa sent me to Ohio to enjoy celebrating with Max. We made the most of the few short days we had to play together, and packed in a wide variety of activities...We ran the Jingle Bell Jog at Max's school, then went inside the cafeteria for hot chocolate and a pancake breakfast. Then, Max quickly changed into his new basketball shoes for his first basketball practice of the season. It was fun for me to not only see Max in basketball action, but also see Chris as the "coach" of the team.We went to a beautifully decorated outdoor shopping mall where Max got to sit on Santa's lap and we enjoyed a yummy Cheryl's sugar cookie. It was a swim meet next, where Max did the 50-meter freestyle (setting a new personal best time) and 25-meter breaststroke.I extended the weekend through Monday so that I could join Max for lunch at school and get a tour of his first grade classroom. It was fun to meet his teacher and several of his friends.
All of this, plus several games of "Chicken Foot" and many rounds of our own version of "Dancing With the Stars" called "Dance For Your Life"; a new movie "Monster Mutt"; trips to McDonald's, Dairy Queen (because Max insists they have the best ice cream!), Main Street Deli, and Dorothy Lane Market; and a number of Wii game demonstrations! There is really nothing quite like the joy of being Grandma!

I love this post! So much detail!!! Max misses you terribly. Every time he sees your picture or something you gave him he says "ohhhh, Grandmaaaaaaaa!" Come back soon!
